I have always gone to the Eastern States so far to go on a cruise -one of the boats that now leaves from Fremantle was one I went on a few years ago -it broke down on the cruise before ours, was fixed, and then broke down again in the middle of nowhere, and we all got our money back!
The same boat, several years earlier, had air conditioning that was broken and so cold we had to buy jumpers in Noumea, and the toilets were blocked for 4 days!
Hence I am hesitant to leave on a cruise from Fremantle.
Finy, can you still remember the name of the ship? I hope the company gave the passengers, some sort of reimbursement! That is so bad. We've never had bad luck like that, but we did had to miss calling in to a Mexican port once, due to rough seas. That evening in 'our' dinning room, a lone (male) diner, called out, as the captain was walking through, "Kill him, kill him, kill him' These days he would be arrested!!!
Do you mean "what's wrong with Fremantle? I believe the ships that have been in service for some years in the Eastern States, and when they are not good enough for there, are sent over to cruise from Fremantle.
So, we get all the "bad" ships -evidenced by one that broke down twice while I was on a cruise -see my original posting.
Yes, we take ours out of Sydney, for the Sydney return cruises. We have called into Fremantle twice, on the around Australia cruises, (once each way,) both 34 nights, both on the same ship. We took 1, then took the 2nd 1, 2 years later. We're getting a bit sick of flying to pick up a cruise now, as we get older!
