Perth is blessed with an abundance of playgrounds for kids of all ages to enjoy. Getting kids outdoors gets them out of the house, gets rid of excess energy and makes for a free family outing. Many parks in Perth also have access to picnic benches and BBQ's so you can really spend a whole morning or afternoon out in the fine weather that WA is famous for.

There are some fantastic play spaces in Perth for different ages. When my son was really small we loved Mueller Park in Subiaco which is perfect for little toddlers as everything is age and height appropriate. Now he's a bit older and a bit more fearless, we're loving Faulkner Park near Belmont; otherwise known as the volcano park! All the playgrounds in Kings Park are fabulous too, especially the Dinosaur Park next to Zamia Cafe.
In the Northern Suburbs, I recommend Sir James McCusker Playground in Iluka, Burn Beach Playground, and Tom Simpson Park in Mullalloo. These are the three places I take my children to, and they love them all as each playground area offers different experience. Tom SImpson Park has a huge grassy area to run around, Burn Beach Playground is just across a small cafe where my kids get a treat of ice cream , and St.James McCusker Park has barbeque are and nice duck ponds.
We visit Whiteman Park quite often. It has a huge playground surrounded by picnic sites and many historical attractions with paved walking paths to keep us busy.
The tram and narrow gauage railway are great to watch.
