Whether our home is old or new, antique furniture and bric-a-brac frequently provides a unique charm when we're decorating it. Unlike brand-new items, each antique or vintage piece has a story behind it while the workmanship that went into its creation is often of a high quality, rarely seen today.

Here in Perth several areas are reputed to be shopping havens for antique enthusiasts. Which ones do you recommend? Are there just one or two shops there, or are there a good selection? What is the quality like, and are the prices outrageously expensive? Which ones have you visited?

Guildford used to be one of the better places, however several of these have now closed.

With the advent of Ebay, prices have dropped so much on collectables and even antiques, that I guess these shops just could not make a living with rising costs.
One at Guildford that has been there for many years also closed last year.

I also used to go to one called Kings Antiques however they also closed recently.

So, there are not so many reasonably priced ones left.

There is one in Fitzgerald Street, North Perth, and the South Perth Antiques both of which I used to buy from.

I have also bought some very well priced antiques in the past from auction places -sometimes they go extremely cheapl.

George's in Guildford is great and there is one in Kelmscott called Gem's Antiques. They have a great variety of items which are reasonably priced.
You will be surprised at what you can find at the Farmer's Markets in and around Perth. However, there are some great bric-a-brac places along newcastle street.
