Some visitors to Australia, use Perth as a stop off destination on their way to other countries or off to the East Coast. With only a short time in Perth, let's say 24 hours, what would you say are the top things to see and do in Perth.

Perhaps you've got a favourite place that you take your overseas visitors to when they stay with you. We'd love to hear your recommendations.

Whiteman Park is a great place to visit for the historical village with a tram and narrow guage railway through the park. Also easy walking paths for the family to enjoy on a sunny day.
I'd definitely recommend a cruise along the Swan River to Fremantle, and then a couple of hours wandering around Fremantle's historic streets, cafe strip and the markets, if they're open. Nature lovers should try to do a quick trip out to Rottnest Island, as it's so unique, while Perth's cultural precinct in Northbridge (The Western Australian Museum, Art Gallery of WA and the State Library) are also well worth a visit. If time allows, watching the sun set over Cottesloe Beach after a relaxing swim is also pretty cool...
Kings Park (and its vantage point) is a must see place that I take all my visitors to. Thus far, every visitor has been impressed by the views from the park not to mention the amazing plant and fauna life maintained within.

A cruise and a tour of the Swan Valley would be good recommendations.
A swim at City Beach - people travel thousands of miles to see beaches like this... white sand, shade under the trees, and crystal clear water.
If you are a birdo, visit Bibra Lake.
Myer and David Jones for shoping
