Farm stays make a fantastic holiday choice, particularly when you are taking the kids along with you. Life on the farm, and all that fresh air make for a heady combination of great family fun and a break from the norm.
Have you had a great experience on a farm stay in WA that you can share?
My favourite so far has got to be Lavendale Farm in York. The owners are possibly the most friendly people I've ever met, and the accomodation and farm itself is extremely well appointed. Lots of activities for yourselves or your kids to get involved in, and the animals are really friendly and well cared for. The plus point was that it wasn't far to travel to from Perth.
My favourite farmstay is Matilda Lakes farm at Gingin. There is a lake on the property that attracts a lot of birdlife plus guests can help feed the baby goats with a milk bottle. Great for kids to interact with the farm animals and it is only over one hour from Peth.
Met a family whilst camping at Quorn, SA. They came from a sheep property out of Perth. We were enroute there as part of our 'big trip'.
We hired a car, & drove to their property at Pengilly. It was lovely to have a 'tour' around, & of course, fresh scones & a hot 'cuppa' were had! Fabulous!
This was back in the late '70's, & he was using methane gas from his piggery as power. It was forward thinking in those days.
