We all need to escape the rat-race of city life once in a while. For families, a farm stay, beach-side cabin or a couple of nights camping out can be great fun, while couples may prefer a romantic retreat or cosy bed-and-breakfast. Where are the best spots to escape to from Perth? What places have you visited for a quick weekend getaway?

Dunsborough is about a 3 hour drive south of Perth and makes for a fantastic weekend away. You can visit local wineries, Margaret River and Bussleton and the beaches are some of the best in WA. Closer to home a weekend in York at a farmstay is a good choice.
I agree, Helen. They're beautiful spots, and so easy to get to...
About an hour north of Perth, Guilderton is a lovely little spot to spend the weekend. There is a nice calm lagoon where the river meets the ocean, and during the warmer weather it's possible to hire a canoe there. There's a very nice family-friendly caravan park located here, and simple but nice motel units. My family have had a few pleasant getaways at this place and I highly recommend it.
