Yes. My sister married a West Australian and I spent many a holiday over there. I remember taking my now 53 year old nephew into Boans to see Santa one Christmas. On the way home in the bus we encountered a blind lady with a seeing eye dog. Two year old Kim had no idea of her disability and had quite a conversation with her showing her his own toy dog. She was a lovely lady and entered into the spirit of the conversation. Then he promptly fell asleep and I had to lug him off the bus. He was no lightweight, but it is amazing the strength you can muster in these instances. I had not thought of Boans or that incident for years.
I remember as a youngster going up to the top floor on Saturday mornings. There used to be a childrens club where you could play games and enter singing contests. Im not sure if it was called the Willie Wheaties Club but I still remember part of the song-
Wheaties wheaties, they are so good for you- just serve them straight from the packet -there is no cooking racket. They are so good and sweet to eat so please give me some wheaties too.
