In many places around the world skill swap schemes operate which enable people to exchange practical skills and favours with others in their neighbourhood. For example, a person who is a registered plumber might fix someone's leaking kitchen sink in exchange for a neighbour's fresh homegrown produce or getting their lawn mowed. The potential is unlimited. As well as being a terrific way to save money, it's also a good way to connect with and help out the people who live in your area.

Do any skill swap schemes operate in Perth, and if so, where are they? Do they have a website, and how can I contact them?

I was a member of one in my area several years ago. We all got a list of all the people involved and what their skills were. For example I put down babysitting, cooking, sewing and gardening. Sadly it is no longer running, maybe you could start one up?
I have never heard of this before!

What a good idea!

I just found this, which you might be interested in?
I believe this still happens between people who know each other. I believe bartercard runs in the same lines as this idea.
